Aston Villa couldn’t secure Nemanja Radoja’s signature earlier this month.
According to ABC Sevilla, Celta Vigo midfielder Nemanja Radoja has held talks with Real Betis after his Aston Villa move fell through.
Radoja, 25, has impressed for Celta since his 2014 move from Vojvodina, racking up nearly 150 appearances for the Galician side.
However, the Serbian is out of contract at the end of the season, and his refusal to sign a new contract has seen him completely frozen out this season.
Radoja is expected to move on either before Thursday’s transfer deadline or on a pre-contract agreement, meaning he would leave for free this summer.
ABC Sevilla now report that Radoja has held talks with Real Betis about a move to Andalusia, with the midfielder now considering a move to Celta’s La Liga rivals.
Radoja may soon be off the market then, which will be of interest to Aston Villa given their interest in signing the midfielder earlier this month.
El Desmarques reported earlier this month that Radoja had reached an agreement to join Villa, but work permit problems meant the deal collapsed.
Radoja may have been a superb signing for Villa, but he now looks set to join Europa League side Betis instead, staying in Spain after he realised he couldn’t move to England.
