Is there any way to defeat Resident Evil 2's Mr. X so it's possible to complete puzzles without him constantly breathing into Leon or Claire's ears?
Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Remake is scary enough with dozens of zombies trying to chow on Leon or Claire’s neck, but it’s absolutely terrifying when Mr. X (a.k.a. the Tyrant) enters the frame and refuses to leave players the hell alone. With Mr. X being both scary and annoying as he constantly breathes into Leon or Claire’s ears as they try to complete a boatload of puzzles, is there any way for players to permanently dispose of the brute to make things much easier?
Unfortunately, there isn’t. There are only two options when Mr. X relentlessly pursues Leon or Claire through the Raccoon City Police Department. Players can either sensibly run away, or they can waste a dozen bullets to simply leave him stunned. No matter what weapons and upgrades players have, it’s impossible to defeat Mr. X as he is designed to stubbornly chase gamers throughout a good portion of the campaign.
To avoid being killed by Mr. X again and again, players should simply run away and avoid combat. Do not run into any dead ends, listen out for the sound of his boots to know if he’s near or far away, and always have orange health rather than red to avoid being killed in one hit on standard difficulty. Other than that, players should resist shooting his hat as – while you get a trophy – it makes him a tad angrier.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has said fans must demand a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake for it to happen.
