Aside from Death Stranding, The Last Of Us Part 2 is Sony’s most anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive. Thanks to the critical success of its predecessor, along with Part 2’s remarkable E3 2018 gameplay demo, fans and newcomers are desperately awaiting the release of Naughty Dog’s dark and grim follow-up. And, according to composer Gustavo Santaolalla, fans won’t have to wait too long as it’s supposedly coming “very soon”.
Performing at a show in Kuwait yesterday (captured by Reddit user DragonDDark – thanks, Gamingbolt), Santaolalla teased that The Last Of Us Part 2 is coming “very soon”. If the continuation of Ellie and Joel’s story does come out this year, a release date will most likely be announced at Sony’s rumoured mid-2019 event to reveal the PlayStation 5.
While Gustavo’s tease doesn’t confirm that The Last Of Us Part 2 is definitely coming out this year, a former IGN employee did post and delete a series of Tweets that stated Naughty Dog's sequel is 100% confirmed for 2019.
In other PlayStation news, Sony Santa Monica have begun hiring for - presumably - their God Of War sequel, and a Red Dead Redemption 2 animator has joined a mysterious, first-party studio to work on what might be the next Uncharted for the PS5. Sega has also confirmed that Atlus will be at Sega Fes 2019, which will most likely be where Persona 5 R gameplay is revealed and possibly announced for Switch and PC.
