'Hayden replacement': Newcastle fans react to links with Sevilla's Ibrahim Amadou

Newcastle fans celebrate the third goal during the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Chelsea at St. James Park on May 13, 2018 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Two Premier League clubs, Newcastle United and Fulham, have been linked with Sevilla's £9m La Liga ace Ibrahim Amadou.

Ibrahim Amadou produced the finest performance of his Sevilla career on Wednesday night, dominating the centre of the park as Pablo Machin’s side beat Barcelona 2-0 in the first leg of their Copa Del Rey quarter-final.

Estadio Deportivo report that Newcastle United and Fulham want to bring Amadou to the Premier League as a result, just six months after he moved to Sevilla from Lille for £9 million.

And while Newcastle fans have already identified the powerhouse Frenchman as a player capable of replacing the wantaway Isaac Hayden at St James’ Park, Estadio Deportivo adds that he would only arrive at Tyneside on a short-term loan deal.

As a result, supporters are once again asking where the money has gone.

Newcastle have agreed to sign Jordan Lukaku from Lazio until the end of the season (Sky) but the Belgian left-back, like the majority of the club’s other targets, will not be a permanent signing.

So this feels like another short-term quick fix for a side whose lack of ambition in the transfer market continues to hold them back.

Estadio Deportivo adds that Amadou wants to stay at Sevilla for now anyway so it seems unlikely that the move will happen regardless.
