Dave Grohl, Corey Taylor & more pay tribute to Dimebag Darrell

Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell live at Castle Donington Monsters of Rock, United Kingdom, 1994.

Corey Taylor, Dave Grohl offer tribute to legendary musician Dimebag Darrell.

The American musician best known for co-founding the metal band Pantera was tragically shot down while performing on stage December 8, 2004. His murder still haunts the heavy metal scene today; it was the day that the genre lost one of its most influential, pioneering guitarists, and the day that many said farewell to a loved one.

Many musicians still pay homage to Dimebag Darrell - Darrell Lance Abbott - and here is the latest performance to do so:

Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Scott Ian (Anthrax) and Rex Brown (Pantera) all banded together to perform the iconic Pantera track "Walk". The performance took place at Dimebash, an annual remembrance event.

Fans have already begun to praise the rendition as perhaps the very best; nothing beats the original, of course. Seeing such giants of rock and metal pay such stunning tribute is sure to prove emotional for some, and it's clear to see why. Dimebag Darrell is a much-missed figure, but, he lives on in the genre he helped to shape forever.
