Royal College of Art pairs with Pokémon for scholarships

Pikachu walks the runway at the Bobby Abley show during London Fashion Week Men's January 2019 at the BFC Show Space on January 05, 2019 in London, England.

Art and design innovation will be at the heart of a new scholarships programme offered by the Royal College of Art and the Pokémon Company.

The Pokémon Company is funding two scholarships per year at London’s Royal College of Art to “support the creation and exploration of innovative art and design”, said Pokémon CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara.

Masters students Jesse Cahn-Thompson and Amir Afshar are the first two recipients of the grant and will explore AI and VR respectively through the programme. The selected students will benefit from fee exemptions and a trip to the Pokémon studios in Japan, all funded by the franchise.
