Tottenham were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea on Thursday night.

Kevin Campbell has teased Tottenham Hotspur on Twitter after Mauricio Pochettino’s side were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea on Thursday night – using Chelsea’s new signing Gonzalo Higuain.

Spurs went into the match with a 1-0, first-leg advantage but suffered a 2-1 loss on the night – which saw the match go straight to penalties. Eric Dier and Lucas Moura missed, allowing Chelsea to win 4-2.

Pochettino’s side were missing Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min – with the latter still in the United Arab Emirates representing South Korea in the Asian Cup.

Spurs failure to reach the final means their wait to play in a Cup final continues to grow since their last final appearance in 2008, and ex-Arsenal striker Campbell took to Twitter to mock Spurs with a Tweet about Higuain.

Spurs are yet to win a trophy under Pochettino, with critics continuously pointing out that the Argentine manager had failed to deliver silverware at Spurs since taking over in 2014.

The north Londoners remain in the hunt for the FA Cup and Champions League, but the chances of them toppling Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title is unlikely.
