Frank Ocean is easily one of the most acclaimed artists of the current decade, and absolutely blew listeners away with 2016’s Blonde. When describing him, most will say he’s an immensely talented recluse, secretive about his personal life and projects.
However, 2019 seems to signal a change. Recently the popular R&B artist returned to social media, as well as giving a rare interview with GQ to kick off the year. His social media has just lately demanded a lot of attention, with the singer-songwriter teasing a cover of SZA’s “The Weekend”:
Fans of both SZA and Ocean are hoping that this means a full cover could drop anytime soon. This should be the case; we can’t imagine he would want to cause such a stir with a brief snippet then ditch the prospect.
The song comes from SZA’s 2017 debut studio record Ctrl, which was critically acclaimed and saw the artist nominated for five Grammy awards. There were some really great hip-hop features on the album, notably from Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott, so the cover could potentially tease even more exciting news if it eventually gets released in full.
