West Ham United's need to sign a striker is a lot less urgent than it was this time last week.
It now looks like Marko Arnautovic is going to be staying at West Ham beyond this month as his lucrative move to China collapses.
The Irons were linked to an array of excellent replacements - including a certain Timo Werner - but Mario Balotelli is the pick of the bunch as far as profile goes.
And what a fantastic signing he could have been.
The former Manchester City hitman, who left Eastlands six months before Pellegrini was appointed, is still only 28 and in striker terms, only now hitting his peak.
Did they need him this month? With Arnautovic staying, not really. Well, West Ham don't need a striker, because they have three, but only one is decent and Balotelli is a far better goalscorer than Javier Hernandez or Andy Carroll.
If the Nice star dazzles at Marseille, alongside a certain Dimitri Payet, then fans of the East London side will be cursing that they couldn't get him.
