The giant centre-forward has played 23 league games this season under Steve McClaren but just two of those have been starts and he opened up about his frustrations at Loftus Road earlier in the week.
“It’s been a very frustrating spell personally. I try just to give my all to the side when I get given the opportunity,” said Smith, who joined QRP from London rivals Fulham two years ago.
And this should give Millwall hope that they can secure a loan deal for the 6ft 6ins target man until the end of the current campaign.
West London Sport claim that Neil Harris’ side made an enquiry about Smith after receiving the news that Tom Elliot will be out for around six weeks with a shoulder injury.
Should he swap Loftus Road for The New Den, Smith would provide competition in attack for Millwall and perhaps take some of the pressure of Steve Morison, who has scored just once in a disappointing campaign.
Millwall are currently 19th in the table but they have a healthy six point buffer between themselves and the bottom three as things stand.
