Newcastle United are reportedly interested in bringing PSV Eindhoven's Heerenveen loanee Sam Lammers to the Premier League.

There is something special about Sam Lammers.
The 21-year-old Dutchman is hardly a household name yet but he has offered a tantalising glimpse of the future since arriving at Heerenveen on loan from PSV last summer. And, according to the Mirror (24 December, page 68) his performances in the Eredivisie have caught the attention of Newcastle United.
But who is Lammers? And why is he so highly rated?
Well, his performance in Heerenveen’s thrilling 4-4 draw away at Ajax on Saturday tells you more than words ever could. Lammers scored two carbon copy goals, fizzing two pinpoint strikes into the bottom corner from the edge of the area after shifting away from his market with a clever shimmy into space.
He has now scored 11 goals in 19 games this season. But it’s his ability to make the complex look routine that has earned him plenty of praise, and comparisons with arguably the greatest Dutch striker of all time, the legendary Marco Van Basten (via Football Oranje).

Like the former AC Milan striker Van Basten, Lammers possesses skill, guile and subtlety that is almost at odds with his lanky 6ft 2ins frame. Not only that, he is a truly clinical finisher and a scorer of all different kinds of goals.
Lammers obviously has a long way to go to follow in Van Basten’s footsteps but maybe a move to Newcastle would be a step in the right direction.
