Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to manager Steven Gerrard’s decision to hand Stefan Marinovic a trial at Ibrox.
Gerrard, who was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer of 2018, has said that Marinovic is trying to win a contract with the Gers.
The Liverpool legend told Sky Sports: “It's planned for a week at the moment.”
Marinovic is a free agent at the moment following his departure from Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
The New Zealand international goalkeeper had a trial at Hull City in the Championship in England earlier this month, as reported on HITC Sport.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper is a good player, but some Rangers fans do not think that the Gers need another player between the posts.
Allan McGregor is the first-choice goalkeeper at Rangers at the moment, having returned to Ibrox for his second spell with the Glasgow giants in the summer of 2018.
Wes Foderingham and Robby McCrorie are his back-ups, and while the former is an able second-choice, the latter is a very promising young goalkeeper.
Rangers are challenging for the Scottish Premiership title this season and are giving bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic a run for their money.
Why would we need a 27 year old keeper when we’ve got Fod, Mcrorie and mcadams as back up?— King Coulibilly (@CRascal89) January 20, 2019
Potential #2 or not, he was dreadful with the Whitecaps— Todd Babic (@ToddBabico72) January 21, 2019
Wouldn’t have thought we needed another keeper ??? Must be kicking themselves letting Kelly go on a free— Jamie Derrick (@jamied28) January 20, 2019

Need someone who is on par with McGregor, unfortunately he won't be around forever.— Lone Ranger (@LoneRanger1993) January 20, 2019
yeah, Mcgregor 1 year left, Foderingham 1 year left and Alnwick 1 year left also McCrorie out on loan— Owen (@Owen10741434) January 20, 2019
