Oxford United are hoping to sign Bradford City midfielder Josh Wright before the close of the transfer window, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Oxford boss Karl Robinson has lined up a deal to bring in cultured midfielder Wright initially on loan, with a view to a permanent deal.

Wright, who joined Bradford in the summer on a free transfer, has found himself out of favour under David Hopkin in recent weeks.

The 29-year-old was brought in by former Bradford boss Michael Collins and made club captain at the start of the season, but he has found his first-team opportunities limited since Hopkin took charge at Valley Parade.

Wright has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Bradford, with his last appearance coming in the Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Barnsley in November.

The former Charlton and Millwall man is ready to move on in search of regular first-team action next month and a number of League One clubs have expressed an interest.

However, Oxford are in pole position to land Wright, with Robinson a big admirer of the player having previously tried to sign him when he was in charge of other clubs.
