Reading are poised to sign Norwich City forward Nelson Oliveira with the Portugal international due for a medical at the Madejski Stadium, HITC Sport understands.
Norwich are ready to offload Oliveira during this month’s transfer window as the player does not figure in Daniel Farke’s plans going forward at Carrow Road.
The 27-year-old has been frozen out of things at Norwich this season and has not played for the club this term.
A number of clubs have been chasing Oliveira’s signature this month, but Reading are in pole position to land the former Benfica hit-man.
Reading boss Jose Gomes admitted he was an admirer of his fellow Portuguese following Saturday’s defeat to Derby and the club have moved quickly to agree a deal with Norwich for Oliveira.
Reading are desperate to bolster their attacking options before the close of the transfer window and they see Oliveira as someone who can fire them to safety in the second half of the season.
The Royals are languishing third from bottom of the Championship, two points adrift of safety having just won one of their last 13 games.
