Scottish Premiership title-chasers Rangers could sign Vancouver Whitecaps and New Zealand goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic.

It has been a busy transfer window for Rangers.

Steven Gerrard has already added Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis to his title-chasing squad while Scottish Premiership duo Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones have been snapped up on pre-contract deals.

And, if all goes well, the quartet could be joined by New Zealand international Stefan Marinovic. Speaking to Sky Sports, Gerrard confirmed after the 3-2 friendly win against HJK Helsinki that the 27-year-old goalkeeper is on trial at Ibrox.

Now, news of Marinovic’s potential arrival will have had fans scouring YouTube for clips but supporters need look no further than his impressive displays for New Zealand at the 2017 Confederations Cup.

It speaks volumes about the Vancouver Whitecaps’ number one that he stood out in his country’s 4-0 group-stage defeat against a Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Portugal.

It certainly could have been a lot worse for Anthony Hudson’s men if it wasn’t for the inspired Marinovic, who showcased his talents with an outstanding virtuoso display that perhaps established himself as New Zealand’s Player of the Tournament.

If he can keep out a £33 million striker like Andre Silva, he could be a solid addition between the sticks for Steven Gerrard.
