Former Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid is reportedly on the radar of Leeds United.

Leeds United are interested in signing former Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid, according to France Football.

It has been reported that the Dijon FCO star is of interest to Leeds, who are aiming to finish in the top two of the Championship table this season.

The Algeria international midfielder is out of contract at Dijon at the end of the season.

Experience in English football

Abeid knows English football well, having been on the books of Newcastle from 2011 until 2015 before he was sold to Greek giants Panathinaikos.

The 26-year-old struggled to make a huge impact during his time at the Magpies, but the Algeria international has been playing well for Dijon.

According to WhoScored, the midfielder has made 13 starts and three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season, scoring three goals in the process.

Abeid will be a good signing for Leeds in their quest to win automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side lost 2-1 to Stoke City away from home in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
