HITC Sport understands Brentford and Millwall have joined Preston in chase for Accrington defender Callum Johnson.

Brentford and Millwall are ready to rival Championship rivals Preston North End for Accrington Stanley defender Callum Johnson, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Preston have been leading the chase for full-back Johnson and have tabled a bid for the player earlier this month as they look to bring him to Deepdale.

However, Brentford and Millwall have now both expressed an interest in the talented right-back as they look to bolster their defensive options during this month’s transfer window.

Johnson as been an ever-present for Stanley this season, making 30 appearances in all competitions for the League One side.

Callum Johnson: Attracting Championship interest

Accrington boss John Coleman is reluctant to lose Johnson during this month’s transfer window, but accepts he will be allowed to go for the right price.

The 22-year-old initially joined Accrington on loan from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2017 before making the move permanent in January 2018.
