Earlier this week, The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers announced that a new album is in the works. After a hugely successful and politically motivated new standalone single, titled Land of the Free, Brandon Flowers was interviewed by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 and revealed that the band have been back in the studio.
The follow up to their 2017 album, Wonderful Wonderful, could come this year. Flowers told Zane Lowe “in a perfect world, I could see the end of the year having something, but I think it’s probably, it’s looking more likely that it’ll be 2020”.
Ronnie Vannucci Jr gave a little insight into the bands latest project back in December in an interview with NME, he said “I’m constantly messing around with things and I see a lot online with people who are working with experimental sounds – with either electronic synthesisers and things like that or even a straight-out jazz record”. Hinting that the band may be ready to make quite a drastic change to their sound – as Muse did late last year with Simulation Theory.
Regardless of the wait, the confirmation of a new album has come as great news to fans of the Las Vegas rock band, who are not only excited to hear new music but also thrilled at the fact the band are still together.
In 2017, guitarist Dave Keuning and bassist Mark Stoermer took a break from touring with the band which led to rumours of a break up. Since then the rumours of a break up have been put to bed by the band, who confirmed that all members love recording but Mark and Dave were struggling with the rigorous and exhausting tours.
