Wolves are likely to be after a right-back after Matt Doherty’s disappointing recent form.

El Desmarque have claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘very close’ to beating Spanish side Real Betis for Olympique Lyonnais right-back Kenny Tete.

Tete, 23 has fallen down the pecking order at Lyon due to the presence of Brazilian and former Manchester United star Rafael, as well as Frenchman Leo Dubois.

The Netherlands international has managed just 11 appearances in all competitions, three of which came in the Champions League with the French outfit as they progressed into the last 16 where they will face Barcelona.

The report claims that Betis are going to ask about Tete’s availability, but the same article states that Wolves are ‘very close’ to reaching an agreement that will see the former Ajax defender move to the Midlands.

Matt Doherty’s recent displays have come under scrutiny from Wolves fans, especially his outing in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City where many thought he was out of his depth.

ClubCall claim a move will be worth around £7million for Tete, which could be considered somewhat of a bargain for a player that looked good enough in the Champions League and has won the Dutch Eredivisie.
