Everton are allegedly attempting to sign the Chelsea hitman.

Chelsea's Michy Batshuayi (R) celebrates after scoring against Arsenal during their pre-season friendly football match at Beijing's National Stadium, known as the Bird's Nest, on July 22,...

According to a report from the Sun, Everton boss Marco Silva is desperate to bring Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi to Goodison Park during this month’s transfer window, and he will make a move for the Belgian next week.

The Sun suggests that the Toffees want to take the Belgium international on loan for the rest of the season, with a view to making the move a permanent one for £40 million in the summer.

If Everton do in fact loan the forward, they would of course have to make Kurt Zouma’s loan a permanent one, as they would not be able to loan two separate players from the same club.

The 25-year-old joined Chelsea form Marseille in the summer of 2016, for around £33.2 million, but he has desperately failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.

That’s not to say that he doesn’t still have a lot to offer at the very highest level, however.

Batshuayi possesses blistering pace, and he would offer Everton something totally different though the middle.

And he might just flourish at Goodsion Park with the likes of Richarlison and Theo Walcott on the wings and Gylfi Sigurdsson playing in the hole.

Michy Batshuayi of Chelsea looks on during The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round match between Chelsea and Newcastle on January 28, 2018 in London, United Kingdom.

Whether Batshuayi is worth £40 million, however, is doubtful to say the least.

The Belgian does have potential, but he still has a lot to prove, and Everton must ensure that any kind of loan deal does not involve an obligation to buy the striker at the end of the season.

Michy Batshuayi of Chelsea arrives during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Chelsea at Selhurst Park on October 14, 2017 in London, England.
