Aston Villa are reportedly interested in making a surprise move for Leicester City striker Islam Slimani this month, despite the Algerian currently being on loan at Turkish side Fenerbahce – but Villa fans are not impressed.

Turkish outlet Ajansspor claim Villa are interested in landing the 30-year-old striker, which would see Leicester have to cancel his loan at Fenerbahce before shovelling him off to Villa.

The chances of Leicester cancelling his loan with Fener is quite high if another team comes in for the Algeria international. He is seriously struggling in Turkey, scoring only one league goal in 14 games.

With his career dwindling, Slimani is a shadow of the player that joined Leicester City from Sporting Lisbon for a enormous £29million transfer fee. He has scored just 13 goals for Leicester, costing approximately £2.23million per goal.

Last season, Slimani went on loan to Newcastle but incessant injuries limited him to just four appearances and it appears to have hardly improved as he struggles in front of goal with Fenerbahce.

Despite all this, Villa are said to be keen on signing Slimani who earns £80,000 a week at Leicester (Spotrac). Aston Villa fans are understandably not impressed by the potential signing, and are keen for their club to steer clear.
