Dean Smith is still interested in signing Scott McKenna for Aston Villa, who was originally on Steve Bruce's wishlist.

According to the Daily Record, new Aston Villa boss Dean Smith remains interested in Scott McKenna.

Steve Bruce originally wanted to bring McKenna to Villa last summer, but no deal was agreed for the Aberdeen centre-back then.

The Daily Record reported how the Dons were demanding £10 million for McKenna, which made him too expensive for Villa and Bruce.

The centre-back’s price tag may well have dropped slightly now though, and Villa have continued to track him.

The 22-year-old is now still said to be on Smith’s radar, although a January move does not look likely.

Villa have already brought in Kortney Hause to tighten up their backline this month.

And while Smith is still looking for defensive additions, it is claimed that Villa’s move for McKenna is more likely to happen at the end of the season.
