Leeds are reportedly among the sides interested in MLS ace Zardes.

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Gyasi Zardes from MLS side Colombus Crew and it his blistering speed that would make him perfect for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

TeamTalk claim Leeds are rivalling Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Huddersfield Town and Fulham, as well as Championship clubs Middlesbrough and Norwich City for the 27-year-old.

Zardes joined current side Colombus from LA Galaxy at the start of the 2018 MLS campaign, after playing alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Giovani Dos Santos.

Able to play out wide and up front, the speed machine scored an impressive 20 goals in just 36 games for the Crew in what was arguably his best campaign since he made his LA debut back in 2013.

Now, clubs are keen to land the 40-time USA international but Leeds have to win the race for Zardes, as he is simply ideal for Bielsa’s high press, quick-tempo attack.

His explosive pace would allow Leeds to both counter attack and instantly win the ball back in attacking areas, while his versatility in the final third is perfect for Bielsa who likes players that can play in multiple positions.

Zardes is naturally a winger, with his forte getting to the byline and putting in a cross for strikers to attack. But he offers aerial prowess at 6ft 2in and can lead the line himself, as well as boasting creativity that has seen him play number 10.

Experience at national team level and the calibre worthy of a Premier League player, Zardes would be an excellent January addition for Leeds and one that would catapult the Whites towards promotion.
