Celtic are said to be interested in doing a swap deal for Sunderland’s Josh Maja, and it could be a really smart move.

The Scottish Sun believe that Celtic will offer Sunderland Jack Hendry or Lewis Morgan on loan, in the hope of landing Maja for a cheaper price.

And if Celtic do manage to complete such a transfer it would be a seriously smart move.

Brendan Rodgers side would not only benefit from bringing in one of the brightest striking talents in the lower leagues, but loaning out Hendry or Morgan would help them too.

Hendry and Morgan have both struggled for game time at Celtic this term, and a move to Sunderland would do the youngsters the world of good.

At the Stadium of Light they would both be able to experience pressurised men’s football, with Sunderland challenging for promotion, but they would be kept away from the glare of the Parkhead crowd.

The move would surely help the Celtic’s pair’s development and give them a greater chance of being a success in Scotland in the future.

And if Celtic could arrange a swap deal for Maja then it would be one of the most clever transfer moves they’ve made in years.
