The streaming service that was launched in 2015 by 16 artists has been accused by Norwegian prosecutors of massaging the stars’ numbers.

Streaming service Tidal is under investigation by prosecutors in Norway following newspaper reports in the country last year that the service lied about its streaming figures for Kanye West’s the Life Of Pablo and Beyonce’s Lemonade albums by “hundreds of millions”. The claim was made in Norway’s Dagens Naeringsliv newspaper in May last year.

Now, Norway’s songwriting royalties collection body, Tono, has claimed it has filed an official police complaint against Tidal while Norweigan prosecuting organisation Okokrim has also confirmed it an investigation launch into the service’s practices. Tidal, which was launched in 2015 by 16 prominent artists spearheaded by Jay-Z, has denied the claims are true.
