Neil Lennon’s Hibs need to replace Efe Ambrose but could Celtic’s Scottish Premiership champion Jack Hendry be the man they need?
Hibernian were left very disappointed when Efe Ambrose exercised a clause in his contract which allowed him to leave on a free transfer earlier this month. Although it seems that Neil Lennon has already got a replacement in mind for the Nigerian international.
According to the Express (13 January, pull-out page 4), Lennon is hoping for a favour from his former side as he bids to land Jack Hendry on loan from Celtic until the end of the season.
A £1.5 million signing from Dundee 12 months ago, 23-year-old Hendry has really struggled to establish himself in Celtic colours. It is telling that he has made just three Scottish Premiership appearances all season with Brendan Rodgers preferring other options at centre-half.
So a short-term spell at Easter Road could be perfect for all parties.
The Scottish Sun believes that Rodgers would be willing to let Hendry go out on loan in order to help him get some much-needed game-time under his belt.
Sunderland had been linked with the Scotland international recently but manager Jack Ross played down the speculation in quotes reported by the Scottish Sun. The Black Cats have also signed an alternative centre-back, landing Jimmy Dunne on loan from Burnley.
