Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris started as Mauricio Pochettino’s side were beaten against Manchester United.

Yaya Toure has criticised Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris for the manner in which he conceded his side’s goal as they were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United on Sunday.

The France international allowed Marcus Rashford’s low drive to beat him on his right-hand side despite the fact that he managed to get a fingertip on the ball.

Former Manchester City midfielder Toure made it clear that Spurs’ senior man should have saved the effort as he explained what he should have done at that moment Rashford was lining up to take his shot.

“I think the goalkeeper should be [a little on the right side],” Toure told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football on 14/01/2019 at 7:35 pm. “Lloris, with his quality and his experience should be stopping that and doing better.”

As a result of conceding that goal, Mauricio Pochettino’s side went on to lose the encounter against the Manchester club 1-0 at Wembley.

The away team produced a number of threatening counter-attacks in the first half as they went into the break with a deserved lead.

In the second period, Spurs were the better side but United goalkeeper David de Gea produced a Man of the Match display as the home team could not find a way past the Spaniard despite having 11 shots on target.

Aside from a thigh injury in September, Lloris has been a regular in between the sticks for Tottenham, playing 18 league matches and securing eight clean sheets.

The Frenchman will now be preparing for his side’s away clash at Fulham on Sunday as they look to bounce back from the weekend defeat.
