The hype surrounding the fast-approaching final season of Game of Thrones has cranked up a few more notches with the release of a new teaser trailer.

The teaser titled ‘Crypts of Winterfell’ was released last night and can be watched below.

Today, January 14, marks three months until the final season airs in April, so it’s no coincidence that this trailer has been released now.

It features the three remaining Starks – Jon, Sansa and Arya – as they make their way through the crypt below Winterfell, passing statues of key characters in the story so far, along with a key line of dialogue from each of said characters.

We see the statues of: Lyanna Stark, Ned Stark’s late sister and Jon’s real mother. Catelyn Stark, Ned’s late wife and mother to other the Stark children. And lastly a statue of the late Ned Stark himself, the man who was key in setting the events of the series in motion.

The three Starks then finally unite in the Winterfell catacombs in front of statues of themselves.

An ice cold frost suddenly starts to set in and the Starks ready themselves for battle.

The teaser for season 8 of the hit HBO  show doesn’t really give us anything new to get our teeth stuck into but is sure to build excitement for the upcoming series.

The first episode of the final season of Game of Thrones will broadcast on April 14, 2019.
