The West Ham United starlet has been mightily impressive this season.

West Ham ace Samir Nasri spoke exclusively to the club's official website, and raved about the quality of his teammate Declan Rice, suggesting that he is one of the best five young players who he has ever played with.

The defensive midfielder turned 20 today, and he has already established himself as a vitally important player for Manuel Pellegrini's Hammers side.

Rice recently signed a new deal with West Ham - one that runs until the summer of 2024, and Hammers fans will be hoping that he stays in east London well beyond that date.

And Nasri is a massive fan of the youngster.

The former France international told the club's official website just how highly he rates Rice:

"Declan Rice is a really really good player. He’s definitely in the top five young players I have played with. Jack Wilshere was amazing - on another level - a really good player. Jadon Sancho was a good player as well. Phil Foden at Manchester City as well, and you have Declan! He's in the top five for sure."

West Ham have a real chance of finishing inside the top seven in the Premier League table this season, and if they are to have any chance whatsoever of doing just that, Rice will have to be at his very best between now and May.

And with Nasri now signed up, the Hammers look like a real threat who should be able to cause some of the best teams in the league problems this season.
