Ovie Ejaria cut his loan spell at Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club short.
Ovie Ejaria at Rangers
Much was expected of Ovie Ejaria when he joined Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers on loan from Liverpool in the summer of 2018.
The 21-year-old midfielder arrived at Ibrox with a strong reputation, and for a while, it did look like the Liverpool-owned youngster will be a massive success for Rangers.
However, Ejaria cut short his loan spell at Rangers and returned to his parent club Liverpool last month.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the 21-year-old scored one goal and provided one assist in 14 Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers this season.
The youngster made his league debut for Reading against Nottingham Forest at the Madejski Stadium in the Championship at the weekend.
The England Under-21 international started the match and played for 75 minutes on Saturday, as the Royals won 2-0.
According to WhoScored, Ejaria had a pass accuracy of 87.1%, won one header, and made one tackle and one interception.
Reading fans were impressed with the performance of Ejaria, as the following comments on Twitter show, and Liverpool and Rangers may find that interesting.
Some thoughts on yesterday’s game.— Jack (@thesimpsonRFC) January 13, 2019
A very enjoyable game the most enjoyable for a very long time, the players worked hard for the team from the first whistle to the last. Big shoutout to Ejaria who started that move for Swift’s goal. He looks a very tidy player #ReadingFC
Post match: Ejaria helped Richards defend the left much better than Barrow. Loved it. Now all we need a big, goal scorer.— The Laughing Gomes (@ReadingFCSporf) January 12, 2019
He looks strong and won't be shaken off the ball easily.— Chris Hartley (@Chartley1983) January 12, 2019
Ejaria was so good and Baker looked classy when he came on too #ReadingFC— Jonnie Harris (@jonnieharris99) January 12, 2019
Ejaria deserves a shout— Ole Gunnar Solskjær (@EliteShaw23) January 12, 2019
Good performances all round, with particular plaudits reserved for Ilori/Moore, Rinomhota (shock) and Swift. Ejaria looked very useful, as did Baker late on (should have scored). Great shift from Bodvarsson too. Barrow wasteful but dangerous. #readingfc— George Flood (@GeorgeFlood24) January 12, 2019
Could see players had put in a real shift today. Rinomhota again fantastic, really liked the look of Ejaria as well he adds physicality too. Can't fault any of the players today though. Gomes talks a lot of sense too and seems the players are up for his style #readingfc— Tom Maynard (@ttmaynard) January 12, 2019
Ejaria and Baker were quality today, could be massive for us this season. Best I’ve seen Swift play for many months. Whole team brilliant from front to back. High pressing worked a treat. 2 well worked goals and should have had more. Come on URZ!! #readingfc— Ben de Souza (@ben_deS_94) January 12, 2019
