Forest are on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Aitor Karanka last week.
The 50-year-old former Tenerife defensive midfielder is without a managerial job at the moment, having parted company with Premier League club Fulham in November 2018.
Jokanovic knows the Championship inside out and has a strong record in the division, having guided Watford and Fulham to promotion to the Premier League.
Forest fans on Twitter seem to want Jokanovic to take over at the City Ground, as the following comments show.
Cannot see Worrall being recalled... but would be very happy with Jokanovic— Andrew Chard (@Chardgrills) January 14, 2019
Think it would have been sorted by now if it was him. Tomorrow latest. Agree he’s the one though. He looks hard— richard john (@Richard1John) January 14, 2019
You just know that with all this anticipation, tinged with an air of excitement that it could be Jokanovic, it’ll end up being someone underwhelming.— Stu Haycock (@StuHaycock) January 14, 2019
Right now, I think I’d take any 1 of those names bar Rowett! #nffc
No Jokanovic should be first choice 100%— ٌ (@KieranNffc29) January 14, 2019
No just announce jokanovic ffs— Nffc Fan (@NffcFan3) January 13, 2019
Never in a million years are we getting Jokanovic. #NFFC— Sunny Gill (@Gill_966896) January 13, 2019
I would have loved to have had O'Neil about 10 years ago but after watching Ireland recently I think not. Jokanovic is the only option for me. #nffc— Steve (@brownmvp1983) January 13, 2019
Forest are ninth in the Championship table at the moment with 39 points from 27 matches, just four points behind Derby County, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.
The Reds are still very much in the running for the playoffs this season, and a good and experienced manager could see them end up in the top six of the Championship.
