Cooper featured for Leeds in their Championship game against Derby at Elland Road last Friday evening.
The 27-year-old central defender started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side won 2-0.
According to WhoScored, Cooper took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 81.5%, won three headers, and made six tackles, five interceptions and five clearances against Derby.
The former Hull City defender was making his return to the Whites’ team after a spell on the sidelines due to injury, and former Leeds striker Whelan was impressed with his performance.
Whelan said about Cooper on BBC Radio Leeds after the match against Derby: “Yeah, absolutely excellent. Off the ball, on the ball, aggression, controlling the centre-forward, dominating them, anticipation, stepping in onto things, his range of passing tonight was just immense, it really was, considering he has been out for such a long time.”
The win against Derby last Friday evening saw Leeds put an end to their three-game losing run in all competitions.
The West Yorkshire outfit's push for automatic promotion to the Premier League is back on track.
Leeds have a strong team, and the Elland Road faithful should be confident of the side maintaining their good form for the rest of the season.
