Cabaye remains an icon in Newcastle after starring in black and white stripes.
The 33-year-old looked to have finished his footballing career in Europe by going to the Arabian Gulf League, which is renowned for signing big-name players and giving them a last payday before retirement.
That seemed to be the case for Cabaye, despite making 31 Premier League appearances last season. Now, he is back on the market after a disappointing six months with Nasr.
The Dubai-based club sit way down in ninth place in a league that consists of 14 sides, with only five points separating them from the relegation zone. It has seen a reshuffle occur, with Cabaye being axed.
The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder managed just two goals in games for Nasr, and the middle eastern club have opted to free up one of the foreign spots in their squad by offloading Cabaye. Nasr confirmed Cabaye's exit on Twitter.

A 48-time France international, Cabaye turned out 93 times for The Toon after Alan Pardew brought him to the north east from Ligue 1 side Lille OSC. He scored 18 goals and created 14 more in that time.
He left three years after joining in 2014 to join PSG, and now Newcastle fans want Cabaye back on Tyneside as their club flirt dangerously with relegation from the Premier League.

Yano what it is, our current state of no players in midfield... Cabaye coming back on a free might give everyone a lift. #nufc— Callum Francis (@C_Francis94) January 13, 2019

I'd get Cabaye in just to teach our midfielders how to pass forwards. #nufc— Ant (@furrygiblets) January 13, 2019
Don't care what anyone says I'd have him back in a heartbeat #NUFC— keegan (@KeeganNufc09) January 14, 2019
