The former Barcelona wonder kid was frozen out by the former Derby County boss, making just three Championship starts in the first half of the season. But, with Rowett gone and Nathan Jones in, it remains to be seen whether Bojan returns from the cold.
Whatever happens, Huddersfield Town will be watching the situation with interest. Because, according to The Sun (14 January, page 59), The Terriers have already made an offer to sign the 28-year-old in the January transfer window and bring him back to the Premier League.
Bojan, who has also represented Roma, Ajax and AC Milan in a career that promised so much more, could potentially add some craft and guile to a toothless Huddersfield side that are now eight points from safety at the bottom of the table.
The Sun points out that the one-time Spain international turned down a move to West Brom in the summer because he didn’t want to join another Championship side.
But a Premier League return should appeal, even if Huddersfield’s days in the top flight look numbered.
