It seems that Cardiff City’s long and frustrating pursuit of a new centre-forward is finally coming to an end.
Neil Warnock has been forced to field converted full-back Callum Paterson as the focal point for his attack in recent months and, while the hard-working Scot has performed admirably, he is hardly the man to fire the Bluebirds to safety.
But, according to the Sun, Cardiff fans could soon be breathing a huge sigh of relief. Because Nantes striker Emiliano Sala is understood to have flown to South Wales on Sunday to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical with the plucky Premier League outfit.
It seemed that Cardiff were going to miss out on the 28-year-old Argentine, who had his heart set on joining a more established top-flight club.
But the Sun believes that Warnock has lured Sala to Wales. The 70-year-old made a personal trip to France last week in order to hold face-to-face talks with the in-form striker.
It is understood that the former Bordeaux man will cost £20 million, making him Cardiff’s new record signing.
Sala has scored 12 goals in 16 Ligue 1 starts for Nantes this season, a tally bettered only by Kylian Mbappe and the Lille forward Nicholas Pepe.
