Liverpool are reportedly keen on Celtic winger James Forrest.
Celtic winger James Forrest has been in sensational form this season, and that may just have prompted interest in his signature.
The Scotland international has fired 11 goals and 17 assists for Celtic this season, whilst he has even hit five goals in four games for Scotland this term too.
Forrest has really turned his Celtic career around having seemingly been set for the exit in 2016, with Brendan Rodgers keeping and developing him.
Now, The Scottish Sun report that Liverpool are keen to sign Forrest, with Jurgen Klopp interested in luring the Scot to Anfield.
It’s bizarrely noted that Celtic would want around £8million – and selling him for that kind of figure would be a huge mistake from the Bhoys.
Selling Forrest for £8million would be grossly undervaluing the winger. At 27, he’s in his prime, he’s in sensational form for club and country, and he has impressed in both the Champions League and Europa League.
Forrest is under contract until 2022, so Celtic are under little pressure to sell, and £8million is nowhere near enough. That’s the sort of figure that a decent Championship winger would move for in the current market.
Celtic have sold the likes of Victor Wanyama and Virgil Van Dijk for £12.5million and £11.5million respectively, according to The Guardian, in recent years, whilst Moussa Dembele went on to Lyon for around £20million in August.
Somewhere around those prices is what Celtic must demand for Forrest, and should not allow themselves to be bullied into a cut-price £8million deal – if that valuation is true – by Liverpool.
