Capcom's Resident Evil 2 demo might have leaked new modes and characters

Resident Evil 2

Fans have potentially uncovered unannounced features and characters for Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake.

Capcom’s demo for their Resident Evil 2 remake was a stingy tease that succeeded in making us all want to return to the land of the dead as quickly as possible. Although it had a time-limit that forced players to rush through the Racoon City Police Department without appreciating any of the details, fans quickly uncovered a laughably easy and obvious workaround. However, as well as finding a way to replay the demo as many times as they want, fans may have also uncovered new modes, additional characters, and more classified information.

This post contains potential spoilers.

Reported by Dualshockers, a leak on ResetERA suggests a number of unannounced features can be viewed just by opening the Steam demo’s EXE in a HEX editor. The leaks indicate Capcom have brought back the B scenarios from the previous games, along with the “4th survivor” and “To-fu survivor” scenarios. There is also references to a mysterious mode called “Rogue”.

While there is additional information pertaining to weapons and bosses, the most interesting tidbit relates to potentially returning protagonists. According to Dualshockers’ report, Chris Redfield is listed as well as Ethan Winters. With Chris being a fan-favourite, his inclusion wouldn't be shocking. However, with Ethan being a new protagonist involved in only the seventh instalment, his potential involvement is odd.

Resident Evil 2 comes out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 25. If you're a fan of zombie games looking forward to Capcom's remake, then you might also be interested to know Bruce Campbell has confirmed he is reprising his role as Ash Williams for an Evil Dead game
