Bruce Campbell will come out of 'retirement' for an Evil Dead game so he can be the schmuck who hams it up as Ashy Slashy.
Although Starz wronged us all by cancelling the hilariously brutal and gory Ash Vs. Evil Dead series back in 2018, Bruce Campbell has said that Ashy Slashy will be back. Rather than making his triumphant return from ‘retirement’ in the fourth movie Sam Raimi had been pondering for years, the demon slayer will charm us with his goofball antics and cheesy one-liners once more in the realm of video games.
Responding to a tweet asking if there will be a new Evil Dead video game, Bruce Campell simply replied ‘yes’. And according to Comicbook, Bruce Campbell first hinted at an Evil Dead game back in August 2018, saying they are doing a “whole immersive kind of dealio. I’ll be Ash for that, because I wouldn’t want someone else’s voice hamming it up.”
While we would love to see a new Evil Dead movie directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell, a video game will also be amazing so long as it’s not a mobile title like Alien: Blackout and Second Dinner's Marvel game. Despite there already being a boatload of zombie games, Evil Dead is the only franchise where the dead have more personality than the living.
We don’t know when this mysterious Evil Dead game will officially be announced, but what we do know is that Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake is a must-buy zombie title that will more than pass the time. Although Capcom’s demo was a stingy tease, fans have found a laughably easy and obvious workaround the time-limit.
