With Leeds enduring a torrid run of luck when it came to injuries to defenders this season, there have been occasions when sections of the Elland Road faithful have rued loaning out Paudie O'Connor following the promise that he showed last season.
However, after his debut for Bradford City at the weekend, it appears that it is now many of the Bantams fans who would not mind seeing the centre-back return to his parent club.
O'Connor has enjoyed an eventful month having begun the January transfer window on loan with Blackpool, before being recalled by the Whites and swiftly sent out to their League One rivals.
Former Leeds midfielder David Hopkin gave him the chance to make his debut immediately as he was picked in a back three for the trip to Barnsley. Unfortunately, the game did not go to plan for the visitors.
O'Connor was substituted at half-time as Bradford lost 3-0 at Oakwell. Two of the goals came during the first-half, and some of the supporters on social media were critical of the youngster.
Some have slammed Hopkin's decision to throw the 21-year-old straight into the side and change their shape to accommodate him, but that has not stopped a handful of fans suggesting that they were not at all impressed by their new signing.
Here is what some of the Bradford fans were saying about the Leeds loanee during and after his debut...
Now Chicken's out for a few games who's going to be the next scapegoat for #bcafc fans? My bet is the new O'Connor— Andy F (@afirth18) January 12, 2019
Its looking that way.. Hopkin was wrong to throw him in at the deepend— Martin Gregory (@MartinGregory) January 13, 2019
Very very poor from city today, change of team to suit new signing O’Connor was a massive mistake but we will survive relegation 100%! Barnsley best team I’ve seen this year at VP and today at Oakwell fair play to them #Bcafc— Tom Ryszkowski (@TomRyko) January 12, 2019
Hopkin has to take responsibility for today. Ridiculous decision to play the new kid O’Connor who was abysmal, especially as Caddis and McGowan were played out of position. Game was lost by half time. Poor day #bcafc— Gareth Ackroyd (@Ackroyd_Gareth) January 12, 2019
People clamouring for new signings! This goes to prove it can go the other as well and disrupt a winning team. Like most loans , O’Connor will have a clause whereby must be played if fit. #bcafc— Jas (@Jas31399127) January 12, 2019
#bcafc very poor today. Though Hopkin must take some responsibility; mystifying decision to change a winning side/formation. All just to make room for the new O'Connor it seems. No complaints on the result; beaten by the much better team. I now owe @mswro2012 a pint— Rich (@CasualBantam) January 12, 2019
Promising debut then...— Mark Driver (@DriverM2017) January 12, 2019
