Goalkeepers have a reputation for being a bit on the bonkers side and Rangers legend Andy Goram might be no different if his latest suggestion is anything to go by.
Goram, who won five Scottish Premiership titles during a seven-year spell at Ibrox, reckons that Rangers have the perfect midfielder and he's not talking about Steven Davis.
The iconic Liverpool legend, a Champions League winner in 2005, was one of the world's best midfielders at one stage during his career.
And Goram suggests that the 38-year-old should take on a player-manager role at Rangers instead.
"My one gripe with Gerrard - get your boots on. There's nobody on this planet can tell me that Steven Gerrard is not as good or better than what we've got just now on the pitch," he told The James English podcast.
"The whole stadium would go nuts. The players would get a lift if Steven Gerrard played.
"Get your boots on, keep McAllister away from the penalties, but get your boots on."
If 39-year-old Kenny Miller can still be a force in the Scottish Premiership then you do wonder if Goram's suggestion is as mad as it sounds.
But the truth is that Gerrard hasn't kicked a ball in a competitive setting since November 2016 at Los Angeles Galaxy and would clearly be too rusty.
Plus, he's too good at this management lark to divide his attentions between the managerial and playing side. He needs to focus all of his efforts on winning the title for Rangers who, at the moment, are level on points with top-of-the-table Celtic after the Old Firm win last month.
