Glasgow Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty has been incredibly impressive during his time away from Ibrox.

Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty could be on the move during the January transfer window, with The Sun on Sunday (13/1; page 59) reporting that the 22-year-old is attracting Championship attention.
Docherty has been superb on loan at Shrewsbury this term, scoring five goals and providing five assists in League One. No player in the Shrews’ squad has had a direct hand in more goals this season.
There had been plenty of calls from Rangers fans for the youngster to return to Ibrox this month. But Steven Gerrard landing Steven Davis on loan has seemingly put paid to that possibility.
But he could still be on the move in the window, with The Sun on Sunday (13/1; page 59) reporting that he is a ‘big’ target for Rotherham United and is hoping that Gerrard will give the move the green light.

Testing himself at a higher level could be a very smart move for Docherty. While he is doing fantastically right now, performing well in the Championship would surely boost his chances of sending a message to Gerrard.
And it now appears to be so important that he does send a message to the Gers boss. The Light Blues have already agreed pre-contract terms with Glen Kamara ahead of the summer, and it would be no surprise if Rangers expected to seek a longer agreement with Davis, so Docherty could have plenty of hurdles to clear.
Doing well at Rotherham would probably not see the midfielder clear all those stumbling blocks, but he would unquestionably find himself in a much stronger position upon his return to Ibrox.
