Florian Lejeune has taken to Twitter after making his first Premier League appearance of the season in Newcastle's defeat to Chelsea, with a defender sending a message to the supporters after the narrow loss.
Rafa Benitez's men put up a brave fight against the Blues, but two superb goals from Pedro and Willian ensured that they suffered their third defeat in their last four league games.
There were some positives to emerge from the game. And one of the biggest plus points to come out of the 2-1 defeat was Lejeune's display as he made his first league appearance of the campaign.
The Frenchman only returned after months on the sidelines in the FA Cup tie with Blackburn Rovers last weekend, but he showed few signs of rust and was arguably one of the visitors' best performers against Maurizio Sarri's side.
Lejeune produced some moments of quality that will give Newcastle supporters plenty of belief heading into the business end of the season. He managed to keep Chelsea fairly quiet going forward, so it seems no surprise that he was one of the Magpies stars who felt able to take to social media after the game.
The 27-year-old insisted that the side did their best to come away with a positive result, and thanked the supporters for the encouragement that they received.
