The Australian singer has recently released a new video for the song “Lucky Strike”.
The South African born artist Troye Sivan continues to impress fans with his musical output. Sivan has appeared on-screen numerous times, and even depicted the titular character as a child in Gavin Hood’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, he rose to prominence as a YouTube personality, with his vlogging career achieving him a substantial following. Dating back, he was named as one of Time’s “25 Most Influential Teens of 2014”, and he remains an important name in the media today; now, for his music career.
2018 was an important year for Sivan, with the release of his popular second album Bloom, released through EMI Music Australia and Capitol Records. The studio-record features the track “Lucky Strike”, which now boasts a charming new video:
The beach setting really compliments the song; an infectious, irresistible pop number. The vocals have an angelic touch, which compliments the dreamy instrumentation and a narrative chronicling the artist becoming romantically entangled and lost in casual encounters. It’s a very colourful video, albeit with some slightly graphic metaphorical imagery, and is sure to attract Sivan even more attention.
There is a gorgeous use of colour - frames soaked in soothing pink and orange, helping to create an intoxicating, idyllic setting. The music and visuals are in perfect harmony, providing fans with a video to fall in love with. It was directed by Emma Westenberg, whose video for Janelle Monáe’s “Pynk” earned her a Grammy nomination. Once again, she has turned in excellent work, as has Sivan of course.
