Maja is likely to feature for Sunderland in their League One match against Luton Town at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.
The Daily Mail has claimed that Palace sporting director Freedman will be at the match to scout the 20-year-old forward.
Palace, though, will face competition for Maja in the January transfer window, as there are a number of other clubs who are reported to be interested in the youngster.
According to The Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City and Huddersfield Town want to secure the services of the 20-year-old forward this month, while The Northern Echo has credited Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, Middlesbrough and Millwall with interest in the youngster.
Maja is one of the best players at Sunderland and has established himself as a key figure in manager Jack Ross’s side.
