According to The Sun, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley does not plan to provide manager Rafael Benitez with any major transfer funds.

It has been reported that Benitez will be looking for loan deals and bargain signings in the January transfer window.

Disappointment for Newcastle United

Newcastle do not tend to spend big in transfer windows, and lack of major investment in the squad has been an issue among the fans, who want to see their team improve on the pitch and make signings that help the club move forward.

If Ashley is not willing to provide Benitez with meaningful money this month, as reported by The Sun, then the Magpies could struggle in the second half of the season.

Newcastle are just two points above the Premier League relegation zone and are in real danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.

The Magpies do need to sign players in the January transfer window, especially a striker who can score goals regularly in the Premier League during the second half of the campaign.
