Well-known Spanish football journalist Balague has given his take on the former Middlesbrough manager’s decision to quit the Reds, and has suggested that he did it for the good of Forest.
After beating Leeds, 4 pts from play offs, @Karanka resigns for the good of club. If ownership doesnt offer support in tough times, if you feel patience not one of the owner's virtues I think the most dignified way to act is to calmly say, 'let someone else do it'. Not easy to do— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) January 11, 2019
Karanka’s decision to leave Forest does appear to be a strange, especially as Forest are very much in the running for the Championship playoffs this season.
The Reds, though, need to move on and find a suitable replacement before long, especially as there is still time for him to make signings in the January transfer window.
According to Sky Sports, Forest want to appoint former Watford and Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic as their new manager.
The Reds will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Reading away from home in the Championship.
