The Rangers winger was injured on his senior debut for Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox last November.

The Rangers winger, Serge Atakayi, has shared a positive update on his recovery from injury.

Atakayi suffered the problem just 17 minutes into his Rangers debut against Motherwell last November, and later underwent surgery in London after being spotted wearing a leg brace.

But the 19-year-old appeared to be moving freely in the background of Dapo Mebude’s most recent Instagram post, uploaded by Atakayi’s Rangers teammate on Wednesday afternoon.

And speaking via the same social media site this morning (Thursday), the DR Congo-born Finland youth international insisted, in his native French, that “it will not be long until I return”.

Atakayi has had to bide his time following his 2016 move to Ibrox, but took advantage of a suspension to Daniel Candeias and injuries to Ryan Kent and Jamie Murphy to make the bench against Motherwell.

The former FF Jaro player signed a one-year extension to his Rangers contract in June 2018, which should keep in Glasgow for another 18 months.
