Death Stranding and Metroid Prime 4 are two of the year’s most anticipated titles. Hideo Kojima’s latest project is an enigma packed with celebrities and naked babies, while Samus’ return will simply be Metroid for the Nintendo Switch. Thanks to a cheeky tease and potentially accurate leak, could both games be coming out this year?
As reported by VGR, Hideo Kojima may have suggested Death Stranding will debut on the PlayStation 4 this year. In the latest issue of Famitsu, Kojima supposedly said, “is 2019 the year of the Whale? Please look forward to Death Stranding!” However, with 2019 being the year of the pig in Chinese horoscopes, this is – unfortunately – most likely Kojima being a sly rapscallion.
Meanwhile, a Czech online game retailer may have leaked the release date for Metroid Prime 4. Announced for the Nintendo Switch back in June 2017, Bad Five reports SuperGamer has revealed the fourth instalment is ‘planned’ to launch on November 29, 2019. Unlike Kojima’s tease, Metroid coming out this fall is more likely. Nintendo hasn’t provided any information about the game since its announcement, but it has likely been in development for more than two years and a Christmas release makes a lot of sense.
SuperGamer’s leak doesn’t confirm Metroid Prime 4 is coming out this year, but Samus' return is more likely than Death Stranding’s debut. While we won’t see more of Norman Reedus at E3 due to Sony skipping the event, hopefully the show will give us a trailer, gameplay demo, and release date for the eagerly anticipated Metroid Prime 4.
