Wolverhampton Wanderers booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a superb win over their Premier League rivals.
A number of Wolves fans have taken to Twitter to laud Willy Boly’s performance after the centre-back put in a superb performance to help Nuno Espirito Santo’s men knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup.
Wolves produced a stunning 2-1 win at Molineux against the Premier League leaders. Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves scored either side of half-time and of a Divock Origi strike to set up a fourth round tie with either Stoke City or Shrewsbury.
It was a superb performance from the home side, and a number of the fans felt that Boly was perhaps the best player on the pitch in the hugely impressive victory.
The centre-back made a number of interceptions and carried the ball out from the back brilliantly on a number of occasions. It was a display that suggested that the 27-year-old was back to his best.
Boly has been an exceptional signing for Wolves, both on loan during their promotion-winning campaign in the Championship last year and following his permanent move to the club in the summer.
Some on social media have suggested that the Frenchman is the best centre-back that they have ever seen at Wolves, while he was also likened to a Rolls Royce for the class that he showed against the Reds.
Here is what some of the supporters made of Boly’s performance…
Ruddy picked up from where he left off last season. Marshalled the defence well, distribution good & a brilliant save from FK. #wwfc back 3 were superb – special mention for Boly, a Rolls Royce of a performance. Jonny sound defensively & Vinagre attacked well down the left.— Paddy Day (@paddyday90) January 8, 2019
Willy Boly is the best centre half I’ve ever seen for Wolves. Absolute class— Vinny Banks (@Vinny_Banks) January 8, 2019
Willy Boly was Superb again last night. Him or Jimenez player of the season for me so far. Pay the money for Jimenez now. #WWFC— Leamington Wolves (@LeamWolves) January 8, 2019
Lots of MOTM candidates last night— LesleyAnn (@lesley_annb) January 8, 2019
Ruddy – that save. He also never stopped shouting especially helping vinagre. Absolute class.
Jiminez & Neves – never stopped running again and those goals!
Boly – back to his best. Beast
Jota excellent in first half. Glad he’s back. #wwfc
Honestly, everyone says we’ll lose Neves but if he keeps going the way he does, Boly will get poached, he’s an unreal creature— Ash Dolan (@AshDolan16) January 8, 2019
Boly was immense tonight. Neves looking more like the player of last year. Raul, just get him signed. Having Jota fit again makes a big difference to how we attack. Shout out to Ruddy, bided his time, supported the lads and played a blinder. Great night!— Phil Bradley (@wolvesbradders) January 7, 2019
Boly, easily my man of the match tonight…gave a master class in defending #WOLLIV— Gaz (@Gazoftheshire) January 7, 2019
How good is Boly proving to be? Consistently improving and only in his first season in The Premier League. Fast, strong, composed and strong. Ball playing top notch too. Yes can make slip up but never really fear when he’s there. Lescott and Richards esque. #wwfc— Jonathan “The Moderator” Nuno Santo ⚽️ (@Johnybig32) January 7, 2019
