HITC Sport understands Fleetwood Town defender Cian Bolger is in talks with Lincoln.

Lincoln City are closing in on a move for Fleetwood Town defender Cian Bolger, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Bolger has found himself down the pecking order at Fleetwood this season under Joey Barton.

The Republic of Ireland defender has made 17 appearances in all competitions so far for Fleetwood, but only 10 of those have been starts.

Bolger is keen to be playing in the second half of the season after finding his opportunities limited so far this term at Highbury.

A number of clubs are understood to have expressed an interest in signing Bolger in this month’s transfer window, but Lincoln are leading the race for his signature.

Lincoln boss Danny Cowley is a big admirer of Bolger and sees him as a key addition to his plans as he looks to maintain his side’s push from promotion from League Two.

Bolger has made over 100 appearances for Fleetwood since joining the club from Southend in the summer of 2016 and was a big fans’ favourite at the club.
